Never stop doodling!

I wanted to create a brand that communicate what’s important to me as a person and designer. The overall brand is to communicate a look and feel that says accessible, fun, and lighthearted. I created a small brand identity that offers multi logo mark iterations that provides verticality and room for growth.

Mood board

I started the process creating a mood board to get the overall feeling that I want to portray to my audience and clients. I put together some colors and imagery that invoked feelings of joy, calm, and happiness. I also put some adjectives together to help relay with messaging that I wanted to keep in mind when creating my logo.

Sketching

Once I established a mood board I started the process with my initial for some inspiration. I wanted anything that was unique about it to be translated over into my logo design.

First thing I noticed was that my “B” looks like a heart on its side. Which was great because I wanted my logo to communicate a kind hearted accessible feeling. This was a great starting point but I didn’t limit myself to this initial thought.

Before exploring my initial idea I sketched out other ideas. I played with things such as

  • Illustrations

  • Negative Space

  • Abstract Shapes

  • Simple Shapes

Ultimately I felt my initial inspiration was the direction I wanted to go in. With that I expanded on that and played with letter positions along with merging the letter forms. Then proceeded with recreating them in Adobe Illustrator and then to business cards to see which gave me the best look and feel I was looking for.
